So, we have been looking for a puppy for a while. We were never really LOOKING looking because we can't have one right now, but we were looking around to see what is out there and where to look when the time comes.
Even though we have been dealing with TOTAL crap with our loan, things seem to be going through...very slowly, but still moving forward. I was looking on http://www.craigslist.com/ one day (which if you don't use that website, you're sooooo missing out!) and saw an ad for a Teacup Yorkie. I was pretty super excited about it! I know they are expensive because all purebred dogs are, but they got really popular. So I emailed him and the guy said $4500! That made me sick!
Needless to say I kept looking. I saw an ad for two mini weiner dogs (like El's parents have) that were father and son...
I'm sad about posting this add as its one of the more difficult things I've done.I am transferring to Florida at the end of June and i cant take my best friends with me.I adopted Nelly Boy(3 yrs old father)and Kaili(1 yr old son)from the Humane society January 2nd 2008 with the intention of keeping them for the rest of there lives. They only deserve the best. They are full of unconditional love. They are on frontline for fleas and ticks. They are house broken. They sleep in a kennel at night and stay in the kennel when we leave during the day. They both LOVE to chase a ball or toys.Nelly boy Loves to chase little things that blow around like grass and leaves. They are both a little timid at first but they warm up quickly especially if you have a toy or ball. They are great watch dogs but don't bite.I have them on beneful original dog food with milk bones for treats.I will buy a big bag of food and a box of milk bones for who ever adopts them.
So I called him and made an appointment to meet the pups and their family. We went over there and the pups let us pet them right away, they weren't shy at all! The family seemed really excited by this and said they never really warmed up to anyone else that came to see them. You can tell he really loves his dogs and it's really hard for him. They also said people got uninterested when they found out they were fixed. We were excited that it was already taken care of. I also think the family thought it was a little shady that people only wanted them if they weren't fixed...weird "puppy mill" feelings.
So we stayed over there for at least an hour, showed them pics of El's parent's dogs, played with the pups, and made a date for Saturday to take them to the beach.
We went out on Saturday and got a new toy for them which I think helped the people still feel good about everything. We picked them , and they were a bit nervous to be in our car which I can totally understand. Once the car stopped, they were really excited to get out and play.
The pups both took nice big poops right when we got there, so I was able to get the feeling of a real dog owner cleaning up poop in the park! The pups had a great time...and so did we! They don't like to get in the water, but they enjoyed walking on the beach and LOVE playing fetch.
Ka'ili (Kah-ee-lee) is a fetch pup all the way- he's the younger one. And Nelly Boy (or Pops as we have been calling him) likes to play with grass and leaves that blow in the wind. He also does a really funny thing...he sees a little bit of grass move and he grabs it, pulls it out of the ground, does that puppy "shake-the-head-super-fast-back-and-forth" thing with it...it's super funny to see!
Anyway, here are some pics of our super fun outing and we can't wait to make it a nightly thing!
This is El giving Pops a belly rub!
