thanksgiving

so we had a very nice thanksgiving!

i worked at 5am and was supposed to work till 1pm, but i got off early at noon which was nice. it gave me time to come home and rest. i was extremely responsible and stayed out much too late the night prior, so i was thankful for that extra hour to rest.

anyhoo...it wasn't awful that i had to work. i actually volunteered to work. the girl who normally works that shift grew up here, so she actually has family to spend the day with. also, i wasn't too sentimental about this holiday because i am just too excited about coming home for christmas! and...on a selfish note...i get to choose between time and a half, or a comp day which i took and i am putting it toward my spectacular trip home!

a few days before thanksgiving uncle george called and invited el to play at a super nice new restaurant. plus free thanksgiving dinner at a super nice new restaurant! and it was oh so yummy! we started with a sweet kula corn, asparagus, and potato chowder with fresh clams...hello! then i had a lobster crab salad, and el had a cucumber and watermelon radish and thin sliced ahi shashimi. then we both got the turkey dinner. we were told it was a free range something or other, one the first turkey type birds. the breast was in a brine for 2 days, and the dark meat was braised. there was some kind of super yummy stuffing made out of something super special and yummy that i don't remember, mashed yukon potatoes, green beans, and fresh cranberry yummers. oh...and dessert! who would have thought of basil ice cream?!

then the boys played for a long time. they were having a lot of fun and ended up playing an extra hour or so. plus he got a tip! he really enjoyed him self and felt really comfortable.

even though i got to rest, i didn't get much of a nap in and i had stayed up way too late the night before, so i was super tired! i have also been feeling a bit yucky the past week. i've been trying to fight it off for a while, but the lack of sleep was not helping. i was pretty done by the time we got home. but i slept really well last night, and i have the day off today...paid! i am just going to rest.

...and eat my leftovers! everything was so good before we got to the main meal i ate a bite of each thing then called it quits! well, then i had some dessert...i mean really! basil ice cream?!
